67 and Still LearningWhat Actually Works
I'm Burl. Retired, curious, and done wasting money on supplements that don't do anything. Here's what I actually take, why, and what's worth your money.

My Picks
Handpicked supplements to support your daily wellness.
Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract — Circulation Health
"This one's about supporting healthy circulation as you get older — aged garlic extract combined with vitamin E, cayenne, and hawthorn. It's doctor developed and clinically studied, which is part of why it's stuck around in my routine. Odorless too, so you're not walking around smelling like an Italian kitchen, which is a nice bonus."

Neprinol AFD — Arthur Andrew Medical
"This one's part of my daily lineup. 15,000 FUs of nattokinase per capsule, and it's meant to support healthy circulation and a normal inflammatory response — especially after I've overdone it with exercise. I'm not a doctor, so I'd say do your own homework on this one, but it's earned a permanent spot on my counter."

MegaFood Magnesium 300mg
"This one's become a nighttime regular for me. It's meant to support muscle and heart function, help the body relax, and support a normal sleep cycle — which, at 67, I'll take all the help I can get with. MegaFood's whole thing is 'absorbs like food,' so it's a gentler option if other magnesium supplements haven't sat well with you. Worth trying if you're chasing better sleep or just want to wind down easier."

Heads up — some of the links on this site are affiliate links, including Amazon links. That means if you click through and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I actually use and believe in.
Mecinalis Liposomal CoQ10 Ubiquinol 600mg
"This one's for heart health. Liposomal just means it's built to absorb better than the regular stuff, and honestly that matters with CoQ10 since a lot of it goes to waste if your body can't use it. Part of my routine now, no complaints."

Nutricost Taurine 1,000mg
"Simple, no-frills amino acid supplement. I take this mostly for general wellness — cardiovascular and cellular support is the idea behind it. 400 capsules means this bottle's going to last me a long while."

Nutricost L-Citrulline (Unflavored)
"This one's a powder, not a capsule, and I mix it into water. It's about supporting healthy blood flow. Unflavored means you can toss it into pretty much anything without messing up the taste."

365 by Whole Foods Market High Potency Vitamin D3
"Simple and straightforward — 5,000 IU per softgel. At my age, and especially if you're not getting a ton of sun, this is one of those baseline supplements worth having around."

Koncentrated K — The Original
"This one's a vitamin K complex with astaxanthin mixed in. The way I understand it, K2 helps direct calcium out of your bloodstream and arteries and into your bones where it actually belongs, instead of building up where it shouldn't. NSF Certified for Sport, which tells you something about the quality control behind it, even though I'm not exactly out there competing anymore. I've tried a few K2 supplements over the years, and this is the one I keep coming back to — it's the best one I've found." [View on Amazon →]
Wondercow Bioactive Beef Protein — Creamy Chocolate
"Grass-fed beef isolate plus colostrum, and it actually tastes good — no chalky aftertaste. Nice change of pace from regular whey protein if you're looking to get more protein in without overthinking it."

Nutricost Glycine (Unflavored)
"Another powder I mix into water. Glycine's known for supporting sleep and relaxation, which is why I usually take mine in the evening."

Barlean's Seriously Delicious Omega-3 — Key Lime Pie Flavor
"I'll be honest, I gave up on fish oil pills years ago — the burps alone weren't worth it. This one's different. It's a liquid, 1,700 mg of Omega-3 per serving, and it actually tastes like key lime pie instead of something that swam. Barlean's says their fluid formula absorbs 3x better than a standard softgel, which lines up with why I stuck with it. Dairy-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, Non-GMO Project Verified. If fishy aftertaste is what's kept you off Omega-3s, this one might change your mind.

Total Beets® Organic Beetroot Powder
"Beets are naturally loaded with nitrates, and your body turns those into nitric oxide, which helps your blood vessels relax and open up — better circulation, better blood flow. This is USDA organic, non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, just 5 grams a day mixed into water or a smoothie. No gimmicks, just beets doing their job."
Toniiq Pomegranate Extract, Ultra Concentrated, 90% Ellagic Acid
"I actually swapped this one in after taking a harder look at what I was getting for my money. My old pomegranate pick was standardized to 40% ellagic acid, which is the compound doing most of the heavy lifting in these extracts. This one's standardized to a minimum of 90%, more than double, and it's a 35 to 1 extract, meaning it takes 35 pounds of raw pomegranate to make one unit of this. Each serving is 1,200 milligrams, two capsules, and you get 60 servings a bottle. Same reason I take any of these: if I'm paying for a specific compound, I want the bottle that actually gives me more of it."

euvexia euMethyl-B — Homocysteine Support
"Homocysteine's one of those words you don't hear until a doctor says it, and by then it's usually attached to a number you wish was lower. It's a byproduct your body makes, and when B vitamins — especially B6, B12, and folate — aren't converting it fast enough, it builds up, which gets tied to heart and brain health. euMethyl-B uses the active, methylated forms of those B's, so your body skips the conversion step. 60 vegetarian capsules, from euvexia's 'true wellness' line."
Fitness Labs German Creatine Monohydrate — Highest Purity
"Creatine's one of the most researched supplements out there, but not all of it's made the same. This one's sourced from Germany using Creapure, a process that's known for cutting out the byproducts and impurities that show up in cheaper raw material. Each batch gets tested for potency and purity. It's unflavored, no fillers, no additives, just one scoop mixed into water. 500 grams, 100 servings, and it's what I personally reach for. That's not me saying you have to switch — just what I found when I looked into it."
Anima Mundi Heirloom Cacao — Single Origin, Handcrafted
"This is raw cacao, not cocoa, which matters more than people think. It's single origin, USDA organic, unsweetened, full fat, and free of synthetic fillers, so you're getting the real bean and not something processed down and cut with additives. I mix a scoop into my raw milk along with some beetroot powder most mornings — water works fine too if that's more your speed. There's research showing the flavanols in raw cacao can support blood flow in a way that's comparable to moderate exercise, which is honestly what got me curious about it in the first place. 6 ounces, 170 grams in the bag. Not a supplement in the usual sense, just something I added to the routine."
NOW NAC 600 mg — with Selenium
"NAC's one of those supplements that quietly does a lot without much fanfare. It's a precursor to glutathione, which is basically your body's main antioxidant, so it's in the mix for cellular health and free radical protection. This one's from NOW, a brand that's been around a long time and doesn't mess around with fillers — non-GMO, 600 mg per capsule, and they threw in selenium alongside it since the two work well together. 100 capsules in the bottle. Not flashy, just one of the basics I keep stocked."
Country Life Benfotiamine with Thiamin 150mg
"This one's a bit more of a mouthful to say than to take. Benfotiamine is a more bioavailable form of B1, and it's mainly on my shelf for nerve function and glucose metabolism support — two things I pay closer attention to the older I get. Vegan capsules, gluten-free, and it's been around since '71, so Country Life isn't exactly new to this."
